Would be really interesting to get some detailed feedback from the riders on here regarding the canal. Luderitz is a  totally fascinating event, but the overall coverage and more importantly  opinions and a write up from any of the riders is a little more difficult to find. I've had a look at all the forms of media reporting on the event but I'd be really interested to hear an in depth analysis from one of the riders as to what it is really like sailing there. For instance I've just looked at a couple of the posts from today and the riders are stating it's a super low wind day, yet they are going 46 knots plus!!!!   Amazing and I'd like to hear a bit more!!!

The session from yesterday was a real light wind day, sailing that broad. The wind was around 25-35 knots. Sailing in thighter angels that is more then enough for some serious speed sailing. In the canal however you need much more wind to get powered up. If you can make it to the other side of the canal you do atleast a 37 knots run, but you don't feel any pressure. The treshold for staying on the plane in canal is much much higher then in thighter angels. We need at least 25-30 knots to make it all the way down the canal.

@adam and others, what else would you like to know?

Jurjen, was is the typical angle you guys are sailing at on the run?  I assume you guys need more wind as the canal isn't that tight of angle?

Thanks!

Thanks Chaps! Excellent stuff -  Good to hear any news and feedback

What sort of wind angle do you typically get? Do you feel any more improvements could be made on the canal, and what are the biggest challenges on each run?
