Woke to bright sunshine :) so Mag and I took our breakfast to the Dip and I wasn't going to sail as lighter winds today, but David Coles was already there rigging 12m for his formula board and it was looking good for some long board cruising :) So after breakfast I went to get my kit and when I get back I wasn't sure what to rig as the kiters were going well so untied my short boards but David had a run and shouted longboard so I rigged big. I started off beating to Felixstowe Ferry SC up the Deben but the winds were light here so I headed out to sea, David was going well on his formula kit, much much faster than me :( I headed to the Fludgers going a couple of miles out to check out a ship moored offshore, it was the 'Patricia' a bouy moving ship. As I headed back to the Dip the breeze filled in a bit, so after a quick snack headed off the beach really broad and headed a mile or so down wind, on returning to The Dip a kite surfer was in real trouble, no board in sight and the kite spinning in circles pulling him fast downwind. His mate asked me if I had a knife as he had a bar malfunction :( A wayfarer dinghy turned and headed off to save the kiter but was never going to catch him !!! I then set off in pursuit, on drawing level the kiter had got out of his harness with the kite still attached and was about to be picked up by the dinghy :) I set off after his kite, after a couple of short reaches I managed to grab his kite, I had just deflated it as the Harwich inshore lifeboat arrived :) We managed to get kite and kiter onboard and headed back to safety :) I then beat back and had a couple more top broad reaches in the sunshine before backing up knackered after sailing three days in a row :) - this being the best day !!!
