Great way to start the 2014 year!
Nice Sandy Point day with just the right angle for the first few runs. Then going a bit to south.
I underestimated the wind so rigged my 2014 5.4m KA Koncept. Then I saw a squall come though and nearly rigged my 5.0m Koncept. I am glad I didn't becasue the 5.4m worked out perfectly. This sail is a huge leap forward on the speed course and felt really light and stable with fantastic control. On the first run I thought I might have got to 40knots about halfway down. I glanced at the GPS and saw 44 knots. Had to look again becasue it seemd too easy.
45Kt peak on the first run!
A couple of runs later I snagged a squall and was almost fully powered with a 46.34Kt peak! Yeeehaaa!
I kept trying for another 44kt run to get the 44 knot average but the wind went a bit more south, the tide was comming in fast and I was really stuffed from walking back 1km after every run. I tried sailing back but could not make much headway with such a small fin and it was even more tiring.
This is right up there with my best speed days and it was not all that windy for here!
