Yet another first today sailing the 53w with 7.0mtr. I had been waiting a couple of weeks for the wind to be in the right direction so as to be able to sail straight off the beach which would give me a bit of a safety net if required.

I was somewhat apprehensive to try this combo out even though it is a tried and tested setup with GPS speed surfers but I need not have worried.

What a perfect match they are, aaamaaazing acceleration and speed which scared me every time I went broad on the outside in the channel. We had no reasonable swell today which when running well will generate some good stretches of flat water when they wash through so I had to throttle back as the board just wanted to keep on building speed as I was sailing into confused chop.

Without doubt this is an awesome combination and will really improve my chances of getting higher speeds. I can’t wait to sail it on some flat water.
