The only day I have worked in a fortnight and it was a nightmare with millions of little black bugs driving us crazy and hot too :( then when I reached Felixstowe it looked breezy!!! A few were out and the sea looked flat so I rushed home to get my kit and was at The Dip at 4:45. I asked Linda Hurrell what size Neil was on – a 8.2 , so I went for the 8.5 on my 147 lt board. And was on the water at 5 ish and the kit was fine – it was great to be on the water with Neil as I haven’t seen him for ages and also great to see three Swains out on the water enjoying the sunshine:) I beat up to kite beach in front of the golf course and the water was lovely and flat even if a bit bumpy out by the red and white bouy. It was great fun gybing in flat water by the beach even if the wind went lighter on the flattest water but I was having a nice time and it took me an hour to fall in !!! I then sailed into the River Deben which was interesting being rough on the bar and then flat but the current was very very strong and you had a job making against it but when you turned you had a short section of flat water and helped by the strong tide I made 27 kts in next to no wind!!! I then did enough runs for a 25 kt. Ave before heading out to sea a mile for a mile run which was good sailing into the sun nice and broad but sea was bumpy and the wind light – still great:) It was then a beat back to the van and was packed up and leaving The Dip at 8 – my first afternoon/evening session, in my shortie too:)
