Two intensive days in a row. Monday I sailed with Jacques and WOuter at "het Haringvliet". I was a little afraid for my leg as we had to bear off in full chop in open sea. Normally this is what I love but my last crash was still in the back of my head. Since I can just walk again without pain I decided to stick closer to the bank but hit a sandbank while going 38 knts. I nealry broke my arm and the nerves were numb for minutes. It looked really weird with my arm dancing up and down without me doing anything. First I thought it was broken and I didn't even dare to touch it and was nearly in shock. In the evening I couldn't walk again but the next morning all was good. Predictions looked great for Horst so I decided to go there and have a try. The wind was great, I did pretty high peak speeds but felt like a beginner had no control at all. Four crashes later I really thought about handing back my gear to my sponsor as I am not worthy of getting support right now and I was scared shitless to hurt myself even more. I sailed back to the launching area, saw a huge gust coming, I didn't think for the first time and was just focussed. The gust hit and my first over 80 ten seconds at Horst was a fact. I so needed this. All of a sudden everything fell into place again. I was thrilled to feel I still have it when the wind is strong. I just can't get my act together when it's lighter. I feel what I am doing wrong but can't translate it to my body stance. It's too much fighting and there is no flow. This causes me to push the fin too much, I turn in my upper body to compensate for the lack of strenght in the lower left leg and spin-outs are constantly near. The fast run learned me a lot and for the very first time I felt it again without having to think. After the run all felt secure. I didn't go super fast again, but the momentum was there and it felt safe. All in all a great traiing day and I spoke to so many people breaking their personal best. Horst was again showing some magic. I wouldn't know of any open water spot with this potential. If we get a Westerly flow it should be possible to get a 5x10 over 80 in over here. We've got some time left before the grass starts to die again so lets hope we get in another great day before that.
