An intense low came through Cornwall today, with super strong winds firstly from the SSE, then backing to the SW late afternoon, very unusual for June and cold too. The wind was wild and turbulent when I arrived, perhaps gusting to 9bft, so rigged the 5.2 but managed to break the inside of the bottom section. The sail still worked ok, but gave very little downforce so it was just hook in and hang on. No flat water due to the wind direction and very short sketchy sections to sail in, if the wind had veered just round to the WSW it could have been excellent, none the less, a great fun sail in some very challenging conditions
