What a top Bank Holiday weekend, windsurf Friday, top bike ride Saturday, nice walk on the beach Sunday mostly sunny and warm and then today a nice ssw wind was forecast with a 2 o clock low making it good for The Dip, Felixstowe :)

Arrived at the beach at ten to be meet by a full set of Hurrells , then Roger turned up but the winds were light and it was cloudy and cold:( We had a chat for a while but just got cold so we decided to rig and give it a try. I rigged my 8.5 for my 310 Xantos, I didn’t think I would need such big kit today! I was first on the water and I thought I was going to be overpowered but thigs calmed down and this set up was fine for over an hour as I broad reached into Bawdsey Bay but I had to be careful getting too close to the shingle bar with a 46cm fin!

Getting a bit peckish I beat back for a snack by which time there were 6/7 windsurfers out with a similar number of kitesurfers sadly going fast was a nonstarter in the lightish winds and lumpy sea, managing only 22.5 kts. After a chocolate bar and a banana, the wind filled in so I rigged the 7.8 for my 295 Xantos and my speeds went up to nearly 25 kts :) I had my best hour on the smaller kit, going broad then beating back made easy by the incoming tide, the sun even managed to show its face :) In the end I was last off the water absolutely knackers covering 60 km!!! and the sea had lumped up so I was glad to call it a day.

Nice to be back out at my home spot for the first time since January 2nd !!! and good to catch up with my mates not having seen then for a few months.
