Got to Beachport at 1.30PM to greay overcast and 25 knots south wind on the pier. Hung around the Coffee shop for a while and finally go to the spit at 3.30pm. The track in had some big puddles, but nothing a good clearance 2WD pulling a trailer couldnt handle. 

Just as I arrived at the spit I heard a short grinding sound from the trailer. Sounds like a bearing on the way out I thought. 20 meters further on, the wheel came off and the trailer was dragging in the sand! 

No worries, Wheel undamaged. Been here before. Pulled out the bearing kit and had it replaced and wheel back on in less than an hour, Just as Jamie arrived to sail. Thanks to PJ for moral support and the oil rag to clean things up! 

When we were rigging up the wind was quite light at 12-15 knots. Then it seemd to increase just a tad so I went with the 6.2m. Jamie with his 6.6m. By the time we got in the water it was well up into the high teens and I was fully lit reaching across the lake upwind of the spit. Followed Jamie down through the gap, past a couple of Duck Hunters, and onto the spit. One run I got a gust and the peak speed. Then the wind seemed to die a bit and I was sometimes struggling to plane out of Gybes. Just as we packed up the wind was up again.

Sitting in Jamie's caravan late this evening and the wind is honking outside so tomorrow should be fun! 

The lake is sill quite high and there is evidence of thick weed growing all over the place. Nice flat water behind the spit, but some good spots on the Middle Lake as well.
