Wednesday 8th September - Windsurf * The Dip at Felixstowe – sunny and hot :).

Foil – 10.19 knot max, 6.36 knot ave ., 0.40 knot hour, 0.00 knot mile, 5.21 km ., 3.97 knot alpha.

Exocet RF AST 91 with Slingshot Hover Glide 76 with Tushingham Lightning 8.5m.

After this morning’s lovely early morning bike ride when we had breakfast by the River Orwell at Landguard I was hoping that the breeze would fill in enough for a foil but I was not holding my breath! Having fallen asleep doing my exercises I woke at 3.15 and checked the local weather station and the breeze had picked up to a tempting 13 knots so I hitched my trailer and headed down to The Dip. There was just enough wind for me to take a chance with the foil and 8.5, Paul Smith also decided to give it a try. I so realised as I set off that the wind was very light but I wobbled out to the red and white bouy though the bumpy rough bit, not easy with the wind light. Gybing and I nearly pumped up but it as very short lived:( With the tide now running hard out it was taking me down to the Deben so I turned and headed back out, not easy with the wind very light, not helped by the lumpy water coming out of the Deben and three fast motor cruisers leaving the river! I made it back in the end with the wind all but gone, can’t win them all, it was worth a try as it was so sunny and hot!
