I didn't even think of packing the 6.7m, stupid mistake as the 5.8 left me underpowered today. It was great to see so many people there and meet some new faces from Portland, its a real shame the Ray didn't show better conditions. The wind was broad enough to start with to get some decent runs on the west course but as it strengthened it went more southerly so it became very square. I actually tried some port tack runs on the east course towards the end which worked very well - one to look at in a southerly. I concentrated on improving my nautical mile time today, very pleased to get over 30kts at last. Really good days blasting which is welcome after last weekends beating!
First time at Southend.  Seem to keep maxing out around 32 knts on square courses!
first trip to the Ray, great day would like to go again..
First time at the 'Ray' I think I like it? apart from the bloody great  walk! having the wrong board  - walking halfway back to the beach- then changed my mind and walk all the way back.
first time on my 'Missile' mmm not sure about that either - bit twitchy for me - didn't feel safe to go flat out- maybe 28 fin too big?
I am sure i could have gone quicker on my old slalom board .
Do anybody know how the injured kiter is ??   good day ,enjoyed
it - ( but my poor old legs didnt!)  I will be back
Nice to make it to the Ray for the first time, nice friendly atmosphere thanks to Ian R for giving us the low down. look forward to returning when when less square.
P.S el chipo you got me.
First trip to the ray. Spent an hour and half trudging about and planing rarely then luckily we got an hour of wind which was nice. When it filled in it was a tight course so the 7.0 was a bit of a handful would loved to have had the 6.3 and a smaller fin later on but it was nice to get a feel for the place all the same.
All in all a nice awayday with the boss, jesus and the swagger. What happened to Ian the disappearing man?
Southend? well what can i say great location and nice people, thanks to Pete for the loan of the missile.

But should of gone out on my Falcon would have been quicker on something i know and got a lot more pb's but hey aint moaning great fun and great day thanks boys do it again sometime.......

Hey Ian what happened thought you would of at least gave it a go? Long drive for a pint of milk and a quick Ray induction?
Sorry Pete, hung around till 11 ish wind still pants so called it a day, to be honest still tired from midweek antics. Impressive speeds mate considering the conditions and big kit, guess you'll be coming back for more. Saw Kev go out in bare feet, is he still walking?

Don't know where you were looking Ian but with the cloud formation Mr Magoo would of seen it was coming? Maybe fatigue did get the better of you then? Shame really coz i think you could of still got some good times to finish a very quick week seeing what speeds the boys got on a square course.

How much faster is it at the Ray when its a bit broader 2/3 knots? It got a bit like the harbour bearing right off.

Can anyone tell me for future reference thanks.

PS. thanks again for friendly atmosphere like to come back soon lads.
