Saturday 4th June - Windsurf *** - The Dip at Felixstowe – cloudy.

Fin – 26.98 knot max, 24.79 knot ave., 9.53 knot hour, 20.97 knot mile, 34.47 km., 14.01 knot alpha.

F2 282 Ride with Tushingham Storm 5.2m and 36 fin.

With a good breeze from the NE today I wanted to make the most of low water which was at 8.30 which is what time I arrived at The Dip. This used to be the best direction for this spot but things have changed and because the dip water channel from the River Deben now runs parallel along the beach towards us it has chopped up the once flat wat close in and the sea out by the red and white bouy is always confused mush, very big too! Beinf first there and having misplaced my wind gauge it was a bit of guess work but it looked pretty breezy so I put the 115 lt. board and rigged my 5.2 which is small by my standards which seemed to make the most of todays conditions! It was bad sailing out straight into some very steep chop and turned most of the time by the red and white bouy, shame it was difficult to find a wave to turn on:( but the bad sail out was made up by the great ride back to the beach flat out down some big swells! As I was packing up old friends, Peter and Sally Ling came down for a chat, lovely to catch up, its been ages! A good turn out today with the small car park filled to bursting and I definitely did not need any more sail, with the wind increasing and the tide getting higher I decided to call it a day. I was home by midday which gave Mag and I an opportunity to go out for lunch:)

Saturday 4th June – walk **** – Hemley circuit – sunny and warm.

After this mornings full on windsurf at The Dip in Felixstowe after an early start I got home at midday and with the sun on out we decided to take our lunch to Hemley Church. After having some fun brushing our cats, they love it, I have the scars in my leg to prove it and for the third day in a row we were treated to the wonderful drone of a Second World War aircraft flying low over Felixstowe, a Lancaster enroute to Buckingham palace on Thursday followed by a Spitfire two days in a row, loved it:) We arrived at Hemley at two and were the only car there enjoying the peace and quiet watching the House Martins whizzing about with a buzzard too! Then at 2.30 we set off walking down to the River Deben in warm sunshine but with the breeze still strong from the NE! As we neared the river we heard the starting gun for the dinghy racing at Waldringfield and there were loads of boats in the distance:) Walking towards Kirton Creek to turned inland along one of our favourite paths now full of wildlife including Long tailed tits and black caps with young plus loads of butterflies in the flowering blackberry bushes, even better because the only other person we saw was a man on a mountain bike. My heel was playing up now so this walk was just about right, then home for scones, jam and cream, good couple of days.

Now surprisingly really enjoying the Queen Platinum Jubilee concert from Buckingham palace:)
