Good session, at first wind was up and down. Went out on 7m x15 but then put harness hook through just it just above the first batten! So went back out with 6.3, occasionally felt a bit underpowered but most of the time it was okay. Had a break and got cold, went back out and toes froze and had cramps in both thighs out of depth, it was a little scary at first then I managed to get up on the board, had one last run, then the biggest breakfast roll I could find. Nice, near my upper target for distance for the month now - done 40nm, need to do another 10more tomorrow.

Good session for January....lots out at the Salty Lake!  Note to self....get fit!!
bit disapointing wind was very up and down not good for me problaby gone faster on my bigger board 115 litre ,but cant moan still good to get out and have a blast bonus not too cold
The forecast looked really good all week, it didn't quite live up to expectations. Not enough of a westerly component to have a decent run on starboard tack close enough in, got a 27 knot avg on port tack. 3 of the 5 x 10 sec avgs were on port tack - 1st, 3rd and 5th (a port tack high is unusual for me).

The highest max I noticed on the display was 27.91, but looking at the history on the GT-31 it showed a 33.43, that also appears as the best 1 second but it wasn't borne out in the 2 sec max. Some sort of blip as it was too big a jump up from the speeds I was getting.

It didn't seem windy enough to bother getting the small slalom board out of the van. Still, it was good to get the first half decent session of 2011 on the board.
On the strength of the forecast I was expecting to be stacked on my 5.0 so glad I made a last minute decision to put the 6.7 in the car.
Great forecast all week, and all models were forecasting 30+ knots of wind.. On arrival the wind was less than 20 and having brought all of my high wind gear all I had was a 5.8 and small slalom board... Ho Hum. Was a real slog and pointless sailing close in where I was getting overtaken by freeriders and people on ancient kit. Only managed to get peaks over 30 by sailing miles out to sea in the chop where there was a little bit more wind. Good to get back on the water so spent hours in and get the arms working again, hopefully my speeds won't be so crap next time, didn't put any effort into proper jybes either... excuses/excuses... Glad I didn't drive all the way to the ray though.
First outing of the year, and nice to be back into it.
Good fun burning around the harbour with Ant. Hope your backs ok mate?

Not as windy as forecast but good to get out.
First session uploaded. Saturday at Portland was great fun, looking forward to getting out using the GPS again soon.
