Exhausting session... Never experienced so gusty weather on open water. Sometimes only 15kts, unable to waterstart. Within a minute 35 knots, and 300m further again 15-20 kts... 

Belgian spot today, with only Dirk and Dave. When we left, Pieter arrived. Rigged 5.6 but wind dropped when we started. 6.3 was the overall best size for today's conditions. 

Only had 2-3 nice runs, couldn't find the gusts for the other 2. Wind angle was perfect, but that means that you have to go upwind veeeeery far. On 49kms distance I did only 18 runs !! It takes about 10-15minutes to go upwind and come back. When you arrive at the dam, you need to be lucky to catch the right gust... If not, you can start all over again. So quite physical today, but fun. Alot of swimming today as well, but some others just a little more ;-)

Always nice to see a 10sec run of 70+ in the end. 500m not bad as well in those conditions.

Need to check my aquapack now... my gps units were floating inside 

@Benjy: inderdaad vandaag spot van de (brave) Belgen. En wij maar afvragen waar onze noorderburen zaten. Ze zouden toch niet.??......jawel ze zaten er wel.

Bij aankomst rond 10.00h waaide het stevig: 25kn met stoten tot 35.

En toenemend voorspeld, dus net als Benjy en Dave voor de 5.6 gekozen.

Maar aan de dammetjes bleef er maar een mager en vlagerig kutwindje over.

Eerste uur meer gezwommen dan op mijn board gestaan. Gelukkig geen kou gehad. Alleen fris aan de voetjes, volgende keer mijn winterboots toch aan doen.

Slechts 5 (+1 reserve) runs gevaren, meestal uitdovend langs het te ruim uitlopend dammetje.

Groot verschil dus tussen beste en slechste run, maar wou er niet langer blijven dan noodzakelijk.

Terugweg ging vrij vlot (op een kleine 3 min terug aan de kant), want toen trok de wind pas echt aan. Tja.

Toch weer een leuke en avontuurlijke sessie (geraken we al varend nog terug aan de kant....of niet?), en de LM54 gaf geen krimp in de choppy aanloop. Controle pur sang!

Strange weather today because of the rain the wind was up and down. I started off with the speed 44 and 5.6 but it was clear in the first 200 meters that was to small. In the gusts I was able to get away but not for long. Had to swim and hang onto the sail for more than 500 m and in those conditions its a very loooooong way!  

Rigged 6.3 and the smallest slalom and that was the most possible combo for the day. A bigger speedboar would have been perfect to make the cross to the island but I had great fun.
Congrats to my speedbuddies who were a bit faster than me. I could not keep up ... glad we were safe and sound on shore!
