Quick blast after work almost ended in disaster when I went for a long run out wide, gybed, hooked back in and about 500metres into return leg I spotted a bag full of garbage way too late in the glare to do anything but hold on tight.  Went over the front and crunched the nose and what I first thought was a busted boom head but realised I'd only snapped the clamp rope.  Thankfully I had some spare rope in my vest so quickly rigged it back together and got going again much to my relief although the boom was way too low for comfort.  By this time the wind had well and truly kicked up a level so it was a real challenge at times holding it together sailing the 8km back to main beach.  Did a NM run back and called it quits not wanting to push my luck for the day.
