My first sail since speed week and I sure did feel it! A great day sailing with all the Sandy crew. It makes a huge difference to use a decent fin! Many thanks to Mal for letting me use one of his very slippery TMV6 fins and although 24 cm was a bit big for me in those conditions, was a pleasure to sail on. It is just another testiment of how awesome the Sandy point crew are when guys like Mal are willing to help out when ever they can. Looks like he has just pipped me for top spot so well done Mal! :). Andy Mc Dougall turned up late in the session with the new Lockwood/McDougall KA fins and I did a few 43/44.0 runs on the 23cm and loved it. I'm looking foreward to the coming season on these fins as It gives you so much more confidence on the water. The 5.8 Koncept performed really well as expected and never showed signs of being ovepowered. The 5.0 may have been more efficent but I chose to stick with the 5.8 for the pure power. I changed from the missile S to the XS for a few runs and although the speeds were slightly down, it was a bit more enjoyable to sail. We packed up at around 8.30 and I could already feel the old kidney disorder starting to show its ugly head. Choosing to sail back upwind through the chop instead of walking took its toll. Soon the cold sweats started and we had to pull over 3 times for vomit stops before even getting to Leongatha. It's a nasty price to pay for a top 10 ranking but you just have to tell yourself its worth it!!
Many thanks to Cam for driving me home (again!) and Baz for putting up with my moaning. Congrats to Cam for a new pb and a first 40 max.
