The guru was promising 18kn wsw so I decided to do the trip out of desperation. Left home at 4.30 am to catch the best of the tide. After 4 hrs driving I arrived to find 0 knots and rain. We waited in the rain and just as we were about to give up a nice front came through from nowhere. Instantly was a manic rigging race to get out before it passed. I grabbed the trusty 07 5.8 Koncept, the missile "s" and lockwood 23 assy fin. The front came in ss/w making it way too tight for my liking and only the very end of the course was worth sailing for any sort of speed. The wind was quite strong at first (bit more than my pb day) but very tight. My first run was 43.6 on the dial and I thought it could be on! Unfortunately the front was passing and each run was gradually getting slower.
Quite happy with the speeds though for a tight course and against a very fast rising tide.
As the cars in the carpark were in danger of rising water, it was time to pack up and start the 4hrs drive home.
great to see all the friendly crew at Sandy again....
cheers Tony
