I can almost reprint from yesterday:
"I know 30 is not fast compared to other hot shot speeds here. This is fresh water gusty with chop, a real challenge, all things considered, fast for conditions.
If I analyze previous tracks, things are moving better now than before in similar conditions."
Actually the puffs are brief and come on pretty hard fresh water means the board does not float as well, as in salt water, especially noticeable in lulls.
Thus bigger fins are necessary. In fact, when I went from 34cm (no gps on) to 36 cm.. the board banged around less and acceleration was better, smoother.
Going down in fin size in this case, the board rides low especially in lulls. then slog time skyrockets
There were several of the fastest slalom sailors out today, check out Derek Nielson's times, he should post shortly. Maybe others will too>
It's all open water no sandbar, challenging with conditions, rigging and skills
