The forecasts promised 30 Kts +, but it didn't deliver. Quite dissapointing because in that wind this place would go off big time. In the end we had 20-25 and I stuggled to get top gear on the 5.8m. Just not quite...
Happy with the NM with a 22 low in the middle.
I found I was getting just as good speeds on the small slalom as the CA40. This wind seems to be the break even point.
At least I got a chance to try the Kestrel 16 in the CA40 and I was quite pleased with it. Very secure over the small chop and I could really lean on it upwind. It felt more like a 20cm normal 40 deg weedy. I would like to try an even shorter one - 14cm deep?. It was fantastic though the weedbergs, and I thought I felt it drag on the bottom a few times, but I think it was just really thick weed. In any case, it felt really safe in that situation and in the shallows.
Now I have some confidence in it I will try it on a less weedy speed course.
Great to again share the water with a host of very friendly locals and Mandurah Mob. It seemed like Cam and Stroppo's day, with great top speeds by the old salt Hardy.
Nice to meet Elmo at last!
