The forecast was for 20-25kt, but as so often happens it got quite a bit stronger for a while. Low tide was supposed to be 3.50pm but it was still going out at least an hour after that and ended up an extreme low, exposing all the shallow lumps, which was kinda good (could see where not to sail) and kinda bad,(limited the choices of angles a bit).

The first few runs were the fastest with 2 secs just over 40 knots. On the third run I went out in the chop at the end with a gust and spun out/crashed at 40. No damage, but after that I was a bit reluctant to run out there in the chop. Had a couple of runs where I got a big gust at the same spot and knew there was a 2 sec peak over 40 but wasn't game to bear away for it so only got 37-38 knots.

Ado and I sailed (and walked in my case) up the Yanakie channel to try to find a NM. Unfortunately, the wind at the north end was too fickle si I ended up only getting about 1.4km. (NM =1.8km) My 1000m was OK though @ 32.7kt with a 37 2 sec in it. The actual NM came from a speed run - stop and turn around on the bank - sail upwind!

When we got back after that the tide was almost 1m lower! I just couldn't get any decent gusts as the wind had backed off to 20-25 so only mid 30's runs. After a couple of trys, hoping for a gust, we gave it away.

Wind was only 20 gusting 25 when I was rigging so I rigged the 5.4m. By the time I had, the wind seemed quite a bit stronger so I rigged the 5.0m and sailed that. The gusts were easy 35 knots for the first half hour and pribably most of the time we were up the Yanakie channel. but when we got back it was only 20-25 so we were quite underdone on the 5.0m.

GPS's: Wore GW-52 and Ublox 10Hz Logit in helmet and GW-60 on right wrist. Posted GW52. Error range on GW60 quite a bit higher than the other two. Ublox-Logit 10Hz had slightly higher numbers as is expected. but all were within the error range less than 0.08 or so.
