Walk (AM) **** Martlesham Creek.

We had to get up early and take one of Jays rabbits to the vets at Martlesham so decided to not waste the diesel and have a walk. We parked up at Martlesham church then Mag, Jay and myself set off through the churchyard with white blossom everywhere spotting a Green woodpecker. The footpath continues around farmland then down to the creek with many birds in the hedgerows and Godwits feeding on the creek mud. Then back along the creek to the boat yard and up through the woods now full of bluebells and home along the backroads.

The wind had picked up and after yesterdays wash-out of a windsurf session I was keen to try again. So, after a quick trip around town I took my trailer down to The Dip, with the wind coming from the west which is cross off rig chose is difficult. I went with 8.5 today and it was fine even if mostly a fraction under but didn’t want to risk 9.4 as out all by myself. I made the River Orwell in four tacks, well powdered in places under in others and the sea was its usual lumpy self especially at Jacobs Ladder. I landed at the end of Landguard and set up the board for the reach back and was under most of the way back but got some nice planning runs just missing out on a 20-knot average! So, a nice couple of hours out shame it wasn’t like this yesterday when there were a few more of us sailing! Thursday is looking promising but west again and the tides not right for rivers or Point Clear :(
