Windiest I have seen Southend for a long time. A slog walking the kit out in the big gusts and a confused water state all added to everyone's adrenaline. It didnt feel very safe pushing for big speeds during the first couple of hours, think a 43.00 10 sec was my fastest run and then the wind eased off making it hard getting through 42/43kts peaks. Ian decided to pack up and I thought I'd film a run for Jim - at this point the wind suddenly went slightly broader and a solid 40-50kts. I've never seen Southend like this, super flat and very windy (for the record 1.5hrs after a neap, 1.4m low). 4hrs into the day I was knackerd and on the verge of losing front hand grib on the runs but managed to get my 5 fastest times. My fastest run i remember spray getting blown off the water around me. Jim was smoking, well done. The 2-3ft swell in the middle getting back upwind finished us off. Smiles when we got out the water. Great session - one for the memories.
