The forecast was 30, gusting 45. It wasn't that. The spot has good potential in a SE which is about 120 degrees. Although anything S to E is uncommon here. In the SE you're sailing on the inside of the bank, so its onshore, which is nice. But it's really shallow and with lots of shellfish the fin takes a beating. At low tide the bank is super straight, but it gets a little curvy as the tide rises, so its difficult to know where, and how close you can get to the bank.

At low tide you can comfortably get in a good 10sec, and for a short window 500m is possible. After that the bank is covered. There is potential to sail much further south at high tide (which is dry at low tide), but the channel is relatively narrow, with a few banks. So that's multiple tacks up, and a good chance the fin will be dragging on the ground.

I think / hope with another 10 knots the water is just as flat close to the bank. If so, some good speeds are possible here.
