Tuesday 1st November - Windsurf * River Orwell at Levington – mainly cloudy with some heavy rain.

Fin – 23.37 knot max, 18.03 knot ave., 1.93 knot hour, 0.00 knot mile, 10.66 km., 0.00 knot alpha.

F2 282 Ride and F2 Zantos 295 with Tushingham X – 15 5.8 and 30 fin.

With the wind gusting over 40 knots during the night it was another day to head over to the River Orwell at Levington, the safer option. With low water at 10 I was in no hurry to go especially as it was raining too, so could do my exercises. Then with the rain clearing, we even got a little sunshine I headed over to the marina to check the conditions, arriving at 1.30. The tide was still fairly low and with the sun out and wind gusting 30 knots with the river smooth it looked promising for a fin session. I set up my F2 Ride 282 and took a chance with my very little used Tushingham X – 15 5.8, sadly by the time I had my wetsuit on the wind had dropped :( I spent a couple of hours wobbling about or sheltering under my sail when the torrential rain arrived, I got one good gust when the rain cleared but it quickly dropped and I had a job getting back to the van having to swim across the marina channel:( I was tempted out again on my bigger Zantos 295 but that was no better if fact I can honestly say this must be the worst ever session I have had here:( It would have been much better on the foil but the wind was very on/off! Another supposedly big wind day tomorrow which could be crap again but I have the dentist at midday so might not make it:)
