Friday 11th November - Windsurf ***** River Orwell at Levington – sunny periods.

Foil – 20.12 knot max, 19.30 knot ave., 14.47 knot hour (spot PB), 17.65 knot mile, 60.34 km., 16.83 knot alpha (PB).

Starboard Freeride 150 and a Evolution Freeride foil with a Tushingham Thunderbird 6.5.

Being November 11th, Remembrance Day I headed down to Felixstowe seafront to catch the sunrise for the second day running and again got some lovely pics of the big poppies on the lampposts on the prom, one was chosen as Editors Pick on the BBC weather, sadly I bet it doesn’t make it onto the tv :(

What a week, breezy and mild especially for November, today was my 4th session in days, I only missed yesterday because of a visit to the dentist to have a tooth out! Checked around this morning to see who was heading to Levington, with Robert and Ian unable to come it was just me and Michael at the marina to enjoy some top conditions. Arriving around ten there was plenty of water and wind from the SW, with foil boards set up we rigged, I went with my favourite 6.5 with lighter Michael going for 5.8 which proved ideal for a long session with both of us ending up sailing close to 40 miles! I didn’t have any plans today but on launching I had wind all the way up towards Pin Mill so stayed here doing long runs going for a good hour and actually got a spot PB and also improved my alpha PB, in fact I got some nice gybes in today especially when the wind was up:) Michael spent most of the session beating up towards Felixstowe Docks where it was probably a bit windier but the uns ae much shorter! There were some good gusts coming through maybe a little over 20 knots at times but the 6.5 handled it well and I did get over 20 knots with a 19.30 average my 5th best. I spotted a green wing up at Nacton Shore and sailed up to see Steven Miller out:) With the wind going patchy and being absolutely knack erred it was time to call it a day, pack up and head for the shower’s being home by 3. Hopefully there is no wind for a few days now so it gives the old body time to recover!
