With the sunshine out - thats a rarity for August !!! and the wind being offshore at Felixstowe it was time for a longboard cruise to Orford Island :) The wind was abit up and downd and could have been stronger so I stopped just short of the lighthouse (approx 9 miles) as I had to be back by 1:30 to watch Ipswich Town play Bristol (and win and go second in the league ) I went ashore on the Island and carried my gear the 200 m to the river to sail back to Shingle Street to check out the speed sailing potential - it would make a great place for speedsailing in the flat water but the tide is very strong and access is limited :( The beat out of the river was abit slow against the strong incoming tide but made it back to The Dip just in time to get to the football :)
