You know you are in trouble when the windsurfing world speed record holder if on a sail 2 sizes smaller than you! It was good 6.6 wind when I got to the beach but it just kept building. pretty soon I was struggling to hang on. The wind was blowing perpendicular to the waves so there was no protected water. It was one of the most hazardous sessions I have ever sailed. I did change down to 6.0 later, but by then the wind was so crazy I was super overpowered on that. So out of control on choppy water in tightly spaced surf. Made for some spectacular crashes but not good speeds. A2 was out on a 5.5, I will be interested to see how he did - not sure if he had a GPS. Pieter did and I have no doubt he was in the 39s.
