After three days of either too much wind or too many waves (usually both), we were finally able to get out on the water at La Palme. The water was still choppy, but it was manageable in the morning. I made five runs as quickly as possible, which still took quite a bit of time because I had to walk back a lot due to the wide angle of the wind. In the afternoon, the wind picked up to above my limit and the water became too choppy. Fortunately, just before that turn around I managed to sail a wonderful mile which resulted in a PR.

Despite only one surf session, it was a wonderful week with Dirk in France. We will definitely do that again. Thanks a lot for making this trip possible! And also thanks to Brendan and Francois for the good company, stories and advice.

Last day of my speed trip to La Franqui/La Palme with Theo, and the first day with somewhat manageable conditions for the two of us.

No insurmountable chop and no nuclear wind. Good to fully enjoy this beautiful spot for a few hours.

The wind was a bit too broad. To avoid the risk, I walked back almost every leg. When you’re doing a mile, that walking can take quite a while.

After about eight legs, the wind picked up significantly again and shifted further to the north. At the same time, the rolling chop arrived, which meant the end of the session for me.

A great speed day with acquaintances from France, Germany, Italy, and other globetrotters.

Although we had only 1 proper speedday, it was (after a 3-year absence) again a joy to speedsurf at this wonderfull place, and enjoy the company from the other speed-addicts on and off the water.

Thanks guys, and Theo!
