There was a good breeze from the south forecast today but with rain, its getting to the time of year when my open sea sailing has finished until the spring Levington is my go to option in the colder months. The tide was not ideal today with high water at 7.49 then going out all day so I wanted to head over to the marina fairly early so I could get out easily and arrived at the marina just after nine, I was asked not to park near the launch spot today as they were moving dredging pipes so had to walk my foil board a bit further today. I had just set that up and put it on the beach when the rain arrived so I dozed in my van for ages as it was pretty miserable, then around 11 the rain eased so I rigged my 5.75 as the wind was gusting to 20 knots. By this time the tide had dropped fairly low so I had to launch by the marina entrance and beat out to the deep water which was no problem. I thought I had rigged too small to start with but the wind filled in and I had a good spell slowly beating to the corner in the gloom. Sadly the wind eased back so I slowly made my way back and only had a walk through a little mud to land. The weather was quite good at this point so I walked to the showers to wash the mud off and change, sadly the nearest showers are still cold, I must report this to the office and by the time I had returned to my van and driven it to pick up my windsurfing kit the wind had switched probably WSW and was gusting over 30 knots and the rain returned making packing up interesting, I chucked my gear as quickly as I could in the van and headed for home only to find Mag had got wet twice today, once while gardening and once while out on her walk!
