First session before noon. Very gusty (15-40kts) & too much south (215-220 degrees) so not optimal. Still sailed a PB of 37+, happy!

Anti depression session finally some wind. Too bad Ouddorp was full of weed conditions looked perfect.

Oh boy, what a session. I guess one of my fastest sessions ever on this spot but far from easy and that an understatement. Very gusty and hard powerful hammer gusts where smashed into the sail. I almost shit in my wetsuit after the first run and then I still had 4 more to go..

The second run was fast and I had a huge gust and it's like I felt immediately that I hit that 43 knots or 80,4 (to be exact) km/h mark and oh yes I was damn right with a 74.9 run on the 10 seconds. So that leaves us on 3 more runs but the hard wind just sucks all the energy out of the body all in once it seems.

Then the previous last run the wind dipped a tiny bit and I wanted to to one more run because the 5th was a 69'er and that would be a shame no?

So there I went and hit it.. and oh yes again 80,3 km/h on the dial with a run (10s) of 73.8..

I wanted to do one more run and then call it a day.. what mistake I made.. couldn't hold the gust anymore and had to let the sail slip out of my hands and tumbled over the water like a doll but all good with the body. But then a had a long swim because my gear had been flying like it was Qatar Airways.. once I got it back I could barely get onto my board again and in survival mode I could reach the shore again.

Happy with the speeds and the energy of all the other riders that that conquered this storm. This was the biggest storm I ever surfed in @Zonnemaire so far and maybe in my whole life!

Super session! Heavy, couldn't always hold it in the gusts but had a lot of fun and even a new pb on 2sec!

Wind picked up in the afternoon, the 5.2 didn't feel right so picked some vintage stuff out of the trailer. Safety first, so a chop-eating Electron CHS (1995) and my smallest sail (1992 Gaastra Slalomfoil Pro 4.2). The sail tore itself to pieces in this storm :-o but it was a nice session nevertheless! Sadly, took a waaaay to small fin (24 b&j / slalom) so could never ride the fin, but it made it comfortable and safe on the broad runs. Didn't dare to sheet in, in the strong gusts (40-45 knots).

First session EVER on a speed board. New (2015 but hardly ever used) m° Speed 47 with a Select Blade 27 (should have gone for the Hurricane 23 speed delta). Sadly the 2021 Vapor 5.2 never felt good (it felt more powerful / less controleable than my 2024 Vapor 5.7) so didn't really sheet in (wind was picking up) and only managed 4 runs. Nevertheless: a nice first session on the speed board and some valuable lessons.

Finally back!

Covid took me out of the game for much too long, but now we're slowly getting there.

Super happy with this session. Feels good to know I still got it.

Already a post with the coros, the GW-60 was a bit faster but can't read it on the computer so far.

Pre-work session but the wind was more south and not at its best so changed from speed 53 to slalom 95. Was good on the last part of the outside dam. After the last rain around 10.35u the real wind came trough with a better direction. Managed 1 run but had to go to work. Going back was a big struggle. A good start of the week!

frustrating day...

went to ouddorp, but to much weed to sail, then sailed to the outer dams where the angle was no good, on the inside then was gusty and I had no energy left so called it a day, some days it's just not ligning up...

Nice session after surching for the good spot tryed kwade plaat but tide was not low enough so back to heren and test allot of gear in the end I find the good setup.
Looks promising :)

What a day!
I’d been keeping an eye on the forecast for Ouddorp for days. On Sunday, a few of us headed out to try and clear the grass from the spot (spent 4 hours on that!) so we’d be ready for a sunrise session on Monday. But when we got there… all that work was for nothing ?? Super frustrating, especially since wind, angle, and water level were all lining up for a fast day.

So, off to Zonnemaire instead. Started out with the 5.7 and 52 setup near the stone jetty – completely overpowered. Went back in, switched to 5.2, and eventually down to 5.0. The wind kept building and the angle improved too.

Unfortunately, I kept catching the strongest gusts only while heading upwind, and rarely when I was actually on the speed course. Still, it felt great to finally have some proper wind and hit some solid speeds again. Fingers crossed this was the start of a windy autumn and winter!

Awesome crew – lots of laughs, good vibes, and motivating each other.
That’s what speedsurfing is all about!
