Great birthday present :-) Plenty of wind the whole day and great testing conditions for the latest findesigns. I did some tests on the final Katana Race 34 and UFO 34 underneath the Monster 66, but the speeds were set on the Weed Speed 24 and the Rockstar.

In the given wind the fin tracked upwind almost like a normal high aspect fin and cross wind I really couldn't feel a difference with the normal UFO. The best thing going up- and cross wind was the rock solid feeling the fin gave. Of course a weed fin at lower speeds is lifting less than a normal fin but even at low speeds the feeling isn't annoying, but when the speed rises the fin lets the board come to live like nearly nothing else. While bearing offf the feeling was simply sensational and I think I will take the weed fins out during one or more USM races to come to show the true potential.  I wouldn;t be surprised if the UFO Weed Speed in hard core open water conditions will be the fastest choice within our range because of the great longitudinal stability the added rake gives. After yesterday I am also keen to take the smallest sizes (18 and 20) out for a test on the brace.
