My first time in la Fraqui and actually my first time "proper" speed sailing. Unfortunately I was absolutely punished after 100km of Defi racing on Sunday, but really happy to give it a shot. Only lasted 30 minutes as it was soo windy and felt like I didn't have the energy to get myself out of trouble in a situation.

Smashed every PB I think. Best Max, best 10 sec, best 500 and best Average. Each run I was going about 1kt quicker and started to get a bit more confidence towards the end. I feel like a 43kt average would be acheiveble with more time and more energy, but beyond that it looks like it gets more difficult. The main purpose was to try my gear in those conditions and see what I need to do to get set up for a proper speed mission.

MASSIVE thanks to Vincent Valkenaers for his help, both off and on the water. Firstly I would never have found the spot if he hadn't turned up and secondly I dont think I would have gone on the water without him there. I was terrified, like arriving at Hookipa in Double mast high waves. Vincent showed me the way and then gave me a demonstration of what real La Franchie speed sailing is all about. 50cm from the beach at 45kts then bearing out to sea. Looked crazy, but I think he had peaks just under 48kts. Thanks a lot Vincent!

Also thanks to Oliver Pounrouch for the lending of the fin ad thanks to Damian Nico for making it possible. I didn't have fins with me and he gave me some 20cm La Franqui special that felt great.

Until next time.....
