Another excellent turnout, so close to a classic day. A few degrees more SW or the wind kicking in 1 hour earlier and there surely would have been several riders over 40kts. By the time I was on the ferry, 20 mins after dark, it must have been blowing at least gale force!

I chose to sail mainly on the south course (Billy No Mates!) and was rewarded with very gusty wind where there wasn't even enough wind to waterstart at the top end and shifty conditions down the run. Hard work getting upwind, which is what I seemed to be doing an awful lot of. Several runs had big potential but the wind either died or it got too broad or choppy. SW or SSW should be awesome when the tide's right.

Quite scary being out alone in the middle of the river Tamar in fading light, unable to waterstart, glad there were no frigates heading to the dockyard. Jonny told me the Navy don't do weekends anyway!

Results threw up a reasonable Alpha racing result without actually going for it! Look forward to trying for this on a slalom board in coming months.

Good luck to anyone going out this week (Southend, WK?) - finally some consistent good wind for the UK.
