Wednesday 7th May   – Windsurf **** The Dip at Felixstowe –  cloudy and chilly.

Foil – 19.77  knot max, 18.60 knot ave., 14.00  knot hour, 16.45 knot mile, 39.71 km., 14.79 knot alpha.

Starboard Freeride 150 and a Evolution Freeride foil with a Tushingham Bolt 5.5.

The run of NE continues, the wind starts light from the north building and swinging aound midday which is when a few, mainly winges were heading down to The Dip as the tide dropped to low water at 14.36! So I had time to do my execises in the moning, indoors with the fan heater as it is cloudy and chilly:( I arrived at the beach just after 12 and with a glimpse of sun there must have been 20 knots so things looked promising but the sun quickly disappeared and the wind went patchy and it did not look very inviting with no-one in a huge hurry to set-up! In the end most of the wingers headed out with 5m and seemed to be going well, the lone windsurfer rigged 8.6 and with the wind building I took a chance with 5.5? On launching I was well under and thought I should have rigged 6.5 but I found the wind further offshore and didn’t look back and had some really good runs out where the water was rougher but I was pleased to get at least 10 good mile miles in the 15/16 knot range and was pleased with my top speed just missing 20 knots! I got some OK gybes and to be honest I did.nt get cold covering 25 miles before calling if a day ending with a 14 knot hour! Home to see how Mag had got on, she had walked back from Jacobs Ladders where I dropped her off before she did her lovely hanging baskets:) I might have one more go tomorrow before we have a day with the Granddaughter, the lovely Maeva!
