nice to get some wind in Perth! Its been a while. Strong seabreeze. Bits borrowed from GTC site:
Went to South Beach in the morning for slalom, but with a very clear
idea that I was going to leave early to save myself for speed sailing.
After crashing in the lead of the first final I decided it was enough
and headed home for lunch. In the end of the contest the first two guys were sailing on wave gear it was so rough. Better not to persist and break things, get
tired, and miss out on a potentially epic (for Perth) speed session. Pt Walter it was. When I got there Lao had already cracked a 40,
and porka wasnt far behind. I did a run on an old 43cm proto (my first
45kt board) but was overfinned (24) and not at all comfy on it. So I
grabbed the loungechair combo (SP53+KA23sym). And so it was. Very hit
and miss with the gusts, but that only fires me up for another go!
Great to see some big smiles after some PB rain. Thanks Gem for the
beer. It fired me up for another short session which was a 44 on the
dial. The hammy, bicep and pec cramps at the same time as the sun
setting and wind dropping hinted the obvious.
Mission for summer was to crack 45kts in WA. Well almost got there
with 45.03 on the dial today. Also got a 44.9 on another run. Stoked!!!
