Sandy Point goes Doppler - 1 to 31 January 2008

All Australian & Overseas Windsurfers are invited to the World’s first InternationalGPS Doppler Speed Windsurfing Event

Windsurfing Victoria, KA Sail and Locosys Navi GT-11 present a Speed Challenge at Shallow Inlet, 3 hours from Melbourne, Australia.

This is a freesailing event for EVERYONE – not just another competition for the top guys – open to men, women & youngsters of all ages & standards – on any windsurfing gear, new or old.

Participate whenever you want to during the month - that's the joy of GPS.
WITH no entry fee!
PLUS loads of prizes to be awarded at random amongst our non-sponsored riders.
PLUS overall rankings in various categories – with trophies for the winners.

PLUS Locosys have offered a cash prize of US$1000 to any windsurfer who exceeds the world speedsailing records, currently set (over 500m) at:
  • Men - Finian Maynard - 48.70 knots
  • Women - Karin Jaggi - 41.25 knots

    Our aim is to:
  • Share the incredible FUN of warm Summer speedsailing at Sandy Point with as many people as possible – veterans, newcomers, and everyone in between
  • Showcase the new Doppler GPS speed recording system – which is much more accurate than the earlier trackpoint methods
  • Spread the GPS message – by offering the very latest Locosys Navi GT-11 technology to competitors at an amazing price
  • De-mystify GPS use – through helping our participants to set up their units, download results etc.
