What a(n) (off) day! This spot can be very dangerous if the wind drops and if you would have probs with your material and that has been proven today (again!!)
I didn' t intend to go windsurfing as I had the night shift but when my buddy Kurt said he was going I could' nt resist the "offer"..
The 7.0 was on times big enough but could not get the speeds out of it. Tested a "new" board and that felt nice. Jibing was a piece of cake!! Accelaration was great but tought I would have gone faster.. When Kurt tolded me he was going to the big sandbar I followed him. Once I got there the wind dropped seriously and we rushed back (mainly on foot) to get back.
Kurt didn' t manage to get back to shore on his 90l volume board. I got to shore but it was a very close one!!
I tought I had to call the coastcard to get my buddy to shore but there was a sailor in the neighbourhood to watch for him. Then he took him near the harbour where the coastgard did had to bring him back with a Zodiac after all!!!
I was already calling 112 to see if they brought someone to the harbour and they told me his was being brought to shore so I didn't have to worry.
It was nice to see him back, I can tell you that!
The first half an hour I was hot in the suite.. But that changed when the wind dropped and the fysical activity was on a low level. Once on shore my hands where so painfull when warming up.. Not the day to get in trouble!!
But we had a surf..
