1.30 am. Big day!
6hrs work, 8hrs driving,2 1/2 hrs sailing. Not much time left for wife and Kids! Got home from work at 2.00 and saw the 'Prom was blowing 30-35 e/se all day. A quick chat to Daffy confirmed it was around 20-25 and looked like building towards evening. The afternoon lazing in the pool with the kids was postponed yet again and the trip was on. It was a bit hard to organise anyone to come at such short notice so it was just I for the 700 km return trip. The wind never really filled in and had lots of 15 kn holes in it. I probably should have used the 6.6 as 5.8 was very under done. I spent quite a lot of time not even able to waterstart. When the gust were there it was ok but not enough for the big bearaways we so like. Daffy and I had the speed course all to ourselves and it was nice and sunny and warm. We sailed right up to dark. The tide was outgoing so the wind was against it and we were sailing into it which made the entry and exit to the course pretty choppy. The 23 cm lockwood fin ate it up easily. All in all a fun practice day in light winds.
goddnight all
Tony
