I think today I learned how to make the most of being underpowered on a speedboard. I rigged 5.0 in anticipation of 20-25 knots, inspired by the MI team, who reached 48 knot speed today.

On one ocasion I sailed half way across the channel in the waterstart position using submerged clew of the sail for the lateral resistance. The speed was great - about 2 knots, but I made it across. In situations when there is no hope for a waterstart it may be a useful survival technique.

The wind was patchy. The average wind speed was about 17.2 knots (I logged the data) but some lulls were as low as 5 knots.
