311 km.........

Yeeha! Started sailing with the sole purpose of beating Luke Wiggleworth's distance and sail over 300 km. Got up early, so I hit the water at 09:00. Conditions were quite windy, a bit overpowered for the 7.3. After checking some parts of the lake I found the best spot without rough chop behind the dam north of Marken.

The legs were not too long, just over 2 km, with a few patches because of trees, but quite flat, so I could handle the 7.3 in overpowered conditions.
Untill 220 km all went quite smoothly, the set felt nice in the hands, wind was consistent, and the moving average on the GPS was almost 38 km/h. I did a very short brea on the water every 50-60 km, and a longer one (15 minutes) every 110 km. Around half past four I already had 220 on the dial, but then the trouble started.....
Pretty soon after the break I noticed the wind slowly getting lighter, very gradually, but still worrying... And it got lighter and lighter. I spent a lot of time floating around, or trying to pump the board on the plane. I did manage to reach 280 km, but then the wind was really too light.
Desperately I rigged the 8.3: Even if I had to float the next 20 km, I wanted to reach this 300! Then my luck returned, wind picked up again, and I could easily finish the distance, though a bit roughly, as the wind had increased quite a bit. Got of the water at 19:45.
I'm really knackered now, feeling very satisfied, but I know I'll never do this again.

After 2 hours recording of the runs was set to 5 sec to prevent the log from filling up, I may have to make some corrections in the 10-sec runs, I'll do that tomorrow.

Enneeuh, Piet, Gerard, kom maar op met die kratjes bier! HJ is prima...
