There is no correct name for this site in the KA list. this name is accepted although Chinook County Park is what the sign says and where we all sail. Baker run is Baker Bay where the park is.

After two visits, this is the first time I sailed here. Although is was a bit windy, I chose my TR-3 7.0. After trying my 86 litre JP Slalom, not enough flotation to get going, so I went to my Sonic 100. Naturally the wind came back up! Anyway wind direction was not gar off being in line with the current. usually low tide doesn t work here, but we sailed right through. As the channel was barely 100 m wide at entry (sandbars both sides up), it took some effort to quckly get up and go and dial in before bearing of. I improved from crappy to ok with practice. Once going I was amazed how stable the TR-3 7 was at speed, this was the choice as I had so sail more offwind than I wanted.

Getting oriented to the sandbars, in particular at end takes practice and I did not want to hit sand.

Anyway, I can see the potential. The next time in same conditions I will be more confident to attack with this particular kit.

On the other hand being here when wind clocks so you have no following chop will be something else.

Thanks to Brian, Richard and Mark who was not here today helping me get oriented
