NEW NO CAM RECORD????, for the Ka Koyote!!!!

Arrived at SP with plenty of time to stuff around with harness lines fin bolts etc, rigged the Ka Koyote 5.3 and Koncept 5.0. As the rain cleared off and wind swung it was Battle Stations, we all scrambled for our gear lined up at the start of the run and took off one by one .
I started where I left off last time at Sandy Pt on the No Cam Ka Koyote 5.3 with a 41pk on the first run, the challenge now was to set about getting a 40 plus average and maybe a Non Cambered sail record!!!

No problem this sail remained remarkably stable and easy to hold onto to. It may lack the bottom end grunt of a cambered sail as expected, but once on the gas this sail can hold its own when sailing tight to the wind where its under a more consistent load. In general its flatter profile helps here I think. Off the wind its still great too when you get that glory gust to keep it under load and full. Head of sail feels progressive like a spring to sling shot you along as a gust hits.
It can be rigged accordingly too, I had it set full with it touching the boom early on when we were going deep to the end of the run at the red bouy, and later flattened it out to achieve some even quicker runs and peaks higher on the course. Returning upwind would be another test for the Koyote, as batten only sails can have a tendency to luff easily when pointing hard upwind and you get hit hard with a 35 plus bullet. It held its shape well with only one quick angry luff, but still no windward slam eventuated on any of the return runs.

I had some wicked moments on the CA44, with a couple of minor and major tail walks around 40 high on the course, bit of a thrill with the nose of the board nearly a meter in the air at those speeds. Board still behaved and nose came down like it was on auto pilot, mast forward next time!.
Congrats goto Mathew R for awesome PB peak and getting that 40 av, great improvement in short, you have straightened out your stance and look more comfortable proving once again the speeds smaller people can achieve. Whilst walking back it was interesting to note just how lucky most of us were to survived some tinkering on the brink of disaster spinouts towards the end our runs, it was like OOh Uh O hes going to cop it so bad any moment now! and then some how evade disaster by not catching a rail and being slammed.

So a very exhausting session , peaked early and missed the best of it with not enough energy left though. Any how quite amazed with the performance of the Ka Koyote it certainly delivered the goods. This sail is a great alternative for new comers to speed sailing with its strong panel lay up to take the abuse from those crashes you have when getting a taste for speedsailing for the first time.
