Did not rush this morning as the wind was south west to start and forcast to be west north west then at 12.00pm forcast to go west again. Unfortunately the wind went more broad at about 293 degrees and stayed there all morning into early afternoon, so had to be patient and wait it out. The wind did show signs of moving towards the west. It did stay broad, so decided to go for it anyway. Made a few mistakes as had boom too high and had other seat harness on too low. And also trying weight jacket on for second time only, so it made it difficult to hook in. Came back in and changed my seat harness, dropped the boom height. Hey presto! The sun came out and went for it. The 5.7m sail was too big, should have used a 5.2m sail, but hey ho! As it was broad the death chop was present from the first corner, but finally the wind showed changes of to a more westerly direction, but not perfect so just had to go for it. Today was a split decision whether to go or not as had been watching the weather for the last week. I'm so glad that I made the decision to go and also not turn around to go home; given how broad it was. And to top it off, had a lovely hot shower and an amazing Chinese takeout. Happy days!
