Thursday 1st August  – Windsurf ***** The Dip at Felixstowe  –  sunny and hot.

Foil – 19.89  knot max , 18.39 knot ave, 14.35  knot hour, 16.39 knot mile, 40.46 km., 14.24 knot alpha.

Starboard Freeride 150 and a Evolution Freeride foil with a Tushingham Storm 6.5.

The lovely weather continues with another warm and sunny day, after yesterdays epeic 41 mile windsurf foil yesterday I was not expecting to sail today as the forecast was for light winds. So we had a nice morning at home and arranged to meet the Granddaughter the lovely Maeva and her mum on the beach near the Spa Gardens. I packed a picnic and we left home just after one and heded down to the prom to adnire the new yellow line which has been painted along the edge to warn people falling off:) I have got the the ripe old age of 70 without falling off the prom, I think the world has gone bonkers, people need to take responsibility for their actions! We spotted Maeva in her swanky beach tent just past the Spa Theatre in her little chair tucking into her dinner:) We had a lovely time on the beach playing with stones but I was a little on edge as the ENE breeze had definitely picked up, so I made my apologies and headed for home, hitched the trailer and headed down to The Dip to find Ian already out winging with Robert and David setting up. After being a fraction under powered yesterday I rigged 6.5 today which proved perfect! Once again I sailed in front of The Dip to make the most of the smooth water nearer the beach, after having watched some of the foil slalom racing in Fuerteventura where the sailers really bend the legs and set on very line harness lines I thought I would try the stance even though my harness lines of 28” are very short by todays standards! I did improve my speeds slightly from yesterday and look forward to be pushing even harder when the wind blows stronger and I am looking for a smaller Starboard foil, I am after a 105 fuselage, a 255 rear and a 650 or 725 front wing! Gugbing was going really well until I sailed nearly two miles out to see a lifeboat with a yacht in troble and prompty fell right in front of the lifeboat crew, not cool at all! So for the second day running I had a cracking 5 star session in the sunshine and still got home to see Maeva who was still at our house! Great start to August and I was pleased to get on the front cover of three local magazines:)
