Four seasons in one day!
I arrived at the spot when Jackie just left having taken the spotrecord, the wind dipped a bit, but so what, he was still gusting between 30 and 40 kts.
I started on a 38 cm needle(last used 4 years ago in Walvisbaai) and used the 5,6 Loft Blade for the first time.
After a while the wind picked up again and Jean-Marc registred gusts up to 50kts!
The angle was a bit to square to set absolute topspeeds and bearing of with such small board in the chop was pretty scary, after a huge wipe out, I got the message and switched to a 5 m² 2009 Vapor(also used for the first time) and took a bigger board(43 cm) with same 23cm Caspar speed.
After a few runs with this set, the wind dropped considerably and turned more south, a mutch better angle but to small for the 5m². Just did another half hour of freeriding and when I had to leave at 15h00 he started to pick up again. Shit happens! Would not be surprised if some guys wil have set new PR's in these conditions.
Anyway a superday in temperatures you expect to have had some months ago!
