A perfect day at Horst with agreable temperatures for November. This weekend I used my time to test various important settings for our new Simmer/mXr boards. Yesterday a first test on the all new Monster Large and today I decided to go for the 5.6 to see if the Monster 66 would hold a sail this small. I felt it's most certainly possible to ride the board with a 5.6. Today the sail was too small for high speeds on that given board as you obviously feel the size and it simply needed a bigger motor. But, the trim was just fine and I could sail with a 28 fin underneath this board with a 46 wide tail. I'm sure when the wind delivers the Monster 66 will fly and won't be much slower than outright speedboards which is great as this means you can succesfully put a 8.5 to 5.5 sai on it and be competitive with all sizes. The fastest run was set on the Ultimate Speed Machine. which I needed to test as well after Ron made some minor adjustements to the shape.. It was more at ease with the 5.6 in the gusty conditions. The ride was super loose and this board has great potential for open water speed.
