fantastic first low wind USM of 2012. The wind filled in quite nicely for the bigger gear and it was substatially warmet then predicted.

I decided to stick to our biiggest board, the Godzilla, which has got a massive tail I put in a Katana 48 to test if the pure light wind setting would be good enough to compete with light wind speed sets. I am very happy with the rsult as I hardly lost any speed and knowing this was the first speed session on this combo I feel there is room to imporve. Next time I wll test an 8.4 and follow the route giant Ed started to set out last year. I was happy with the topspeed but even more with the feeling the set gave.

Olivier Ponrouch designed the katana in a way that it's working like the suspension of a rally car. You hardly feel the chop under your feet and the Godzilla hoovers over the chop on the deeper concaves. I was surprised to see the topspeed which I achieved after training for a couple of hours. I started to trust the set more and more as the day progressed and learned I can push it much more than any other big set I ever raced with.

Sander congrats on your victory. It was well deserved. After racing a nice small gathering at Bellini's closed off a perfect windsurfing day.
