This morning i went with Martin van Meurs to Herkingen. The course was square so you had to pull off downwind to get the best speed.
Martin was flying again and it was a long time ago that i saw him sailing into the chop fully under control.
I managed to get my 4th 40 knots average this year already. I was out with a RS Slalom MkIII. People who want to know difference in top speed between MKIII and Evo2, just compare my results with Martins.
Most happy i'm with my Alpha results. Not one alpha above 50km/h today, but 5 alpha results above 50!
Finally my confidence is back. I went to the hospital last month and the docter told me my leg was fully healed. It seems the mental block is gone and it's just in time to enjoy the new NP Evo 2.

The sail is incredible and by far the easiest to handle 6.2 race sail I ever sailed. The cross batten is giving added softness to the sails and apart from the known NP drive the sails now also benefit from a soft and foregiving leech which opens up when needed. Centre of effort sits real low, board handling is a dream and the ease of use in powered up runs cannot be compared with anything I ever felt before.

I sailed a JP proto speedboard but can't find a way to add it to the list so I stuck to the boards presented in the list (will ask Dylan for help). In combination with the Venom  and the Evo2 the board gave a real smooth ride.

Jacques was flying on his new Slalom MK3. The leech and set-up of the sail is completely similar to the Evo2 and I am sure for pure topspeed runs this sail won't be slower than the Evo2. I was stoked to see I was competitive with Jacques as he is known for his topspeed in conditions like this but I had the advantage of the Evo2 so we will have to wait until next time for a true comparison.
Last night I thought I would just go to Horst/Bad Hoophuizen. But this morning when I checked the forecasts I decided to go to Herkingen in stead. Think it was a wize decision ;-).
I had hoped to test besides the VMG some of my other new sails: Charge, AirX and Phantom. In the end I only tested the Phantom 6.2 and really liked it a lot!
My AVG for today is way slower than MvM and JvdH because these crazy guys go over the chop like mad-mans...
Well anyway I was happy with my max speed! Would have hoped after some tuning to go even faster, but the wind dropped a bit.
Nice to see both of you going so fast with the new sails. Can you explain to me Martin why the topspeed of the MKlll is as high as the EVO ll and according to your post you had an advantage with the evo?
When I started sailing ( at about noon ) the wind was slowly starting to decrease and the wind angle changed a little more square according the data from that day.

I tested and tweeked around with my new sail and tried lots of settings, changed fins all the time and also changed boards a couple of times ( sailed the old battered HTS XS, AB+ 54 and AB+46 ).
Fastest however was funny enough the SR 59 today, because of the control it gives when going broad into the chop.

I still could notice my mental brake after the enourmous crash I made last month but it's slowly disappearing.

Slowly I am getting there although Jack and Martin were way faster today ( and more crazy going like madmen into the chop where I held back a little )

Nevertheless I am very happy with the new sails and the progress we are making. It's looking good.
