I was down in the New Forest for my son's graduation at Southampton Uni and only took the Xantos and the Falcon 90 with 6.4 and 7m as the forecast was not brilliant.With Sunday being the only day I could get out and with Lepe being the closest spot I went there.With 20 kts on the meter I had no choice but to rig my smallest sail and take a chance !!!! The sea was huge in the middle of the Solent and after a run to the Isle of Wight I ended up a mile + upwind in beaulieu river mouth by which time the wind was gusting 33 kts and the sea although calmer was still lumpy and very scary as the sailers now out at Lepe were on 4m and wave boards.I mananged to make it most of the way back then walked the last bit to the carpark to find Mag(my wife) had locked us out of our van with the RAC on the way !!! Still not bad times considering the coditions and I missed a good day at Poole but hind sight is a wonderful thing :)
