Great afternoon at WC we arraived late and only managed 5 runs before the wind died and it got dark. Shame the last run was 4 knots slower than rest.

Dont know what went wrong today. Felt like it could have been a really good session, but it was not to be. Strained a tendon in my down wind forearm in the gym last night, making hanging on quite hard, so I guess that might be why I was crap today:(  But, today was good warm up for Sunday I guess. Need to figure out a better setting for the 6.3m, just did not feel right. But it was pretty warm for November, so cant complain to much:) Good turn out today, and meet Steve Squirel for first time:)

Fun day on the Kirb, pleased with 500m pb, well overpowered at times kept my speeds down in the gusts, Zara going well -respect gal!!!

More wind to look forward to over the weekend!!!

Pretty Good Birthday Sail

Should of opted for my W44 !   Thats my excuse anyway  smiley

Well done to Zara for her 41.05 !! Top of the world GPS rankings.

This was my first time out with my new (well 2nd hand !) X-15 and I know now that I'm going to really enjoy sailing with this sail. Claimed 2 new PBs on average speed and 500m so chuffed to bits.

Congratulations to Zara on breaking a handful of PB's.

Roll on Sunday....

Didn't know what to do all week as the forecast was changing all the time !!! but at about mid morning Thursday 24 decided to make the 270 mile trip to Kirby for the first time :) told Mag and while she sorted out the food, clothes, bedding etc. I loaded the windsurfing kit on the van and at approx. 2:30 in the afternoon we set off !!! We arrived at Kirby at 9:30 after a bite to eat in the van and a few hold ups on the A14 and M6 :( With the tide breaking over the sea wall we parked up in the public car park next to Morrisons and went for an hour walk along the prom watching the crashing waves :) Friday dawned after a windy night in the van we moved to the lake car park and with the high tide making it unsalable for a few hours and after a chat with Ian R. Mag and I went for a long walk to Hoylake seeing loads of birds and I didn't think Kirby was such a good bump and jump venue as a few wave sailors were out sailing 'the tide’!!! We arrived back as the tide droppped and I rigged my old 2005 x-15 6.4 and went out with my Falcon 80 to get a feel for the place and seemed under powered and my usual slow self making only 33/34 kt runs but the lake was very quiet and with abit more wind tried the Falcon speed and did a couple of 37 kt runs - perhaps I should have tried it earlier!!! Mag enjoyed watching from the comfort of our van and went for a bracing walk around the lake wall and then I packed up and returned to our overnight spot in the carpark before checking out what late evening bargins they had - there were loads :) Then at about nine the second half of the 'Saga' speedsailing team - Peter Cutts arrived :)

Some pics of our 3 days :)

What a top day :) up early and go and park in the lake carpark for breakfast but not alot of wind so rig my 8.5 and take the longboard for a cruise hoping for 30 kts, sadly not enough wind but really good fun and the only a few out :) Then with the tide breaching the lake path return to the van, change and which the locals rig to sail 'the tide' including loads of kiters !!! Mag had already walked the lake path, took some pics and then looked at the lovely town centre which included lots of proper shops :) We then set of for another walk along the coast to Hoylake with the tide even higher than yesterday !!! Then it was back to the van for lunch as the wind filled in and I rigged 5.8 on the Falcon 80 and had another go - not brilliant but okay with the wind sw the fast run was sailing the wrong way back up the course. So after an hour or so decided to try the longboard again and the best time sailing until it was dark and yes got my first 30 kt max on the big board and it was so easy to sail upwind too - none of this walking half way and I had some good blasting against some of the speedsailors on slalom kit including Ian Richards and Peter Cutts :) While all this was going on Mag

set out to walk to the islands just off the coast which you can reach at low tide.  You had to look at the notice board and see what time the islands were clear of the tide and what time to leave so as not to get stuck out there!   They are called Little Eye, Middle Eye and Hilbre.  You have to go from one to the other to make sure you are on a solid path.  It was hard work because it is sooooo windy and it was in her face on the way out there.   It was also pretty wet, good job she had her walking boots on but it would have been better with willies!  Mag went right to the end of Hilbre to a castle at the end then followed a couple back as didn’t want to end up there on her own.  There were hundreds of oyster catchers on the tide line – literally hundreds in flocks.  She saw some brent geese but other than that just gulls.  We saw lots of cormorants or shags on the little eye through binoculars this morning but they had all gone when she was there.  There are lovely rock formations, lots of different layers all washed smooth.  There are caves too.  It would have been great if I was with her but she did enjoy it very much and we will do it another time !!!  Back to the car park for tea made up of 30p pasta salad and £1.40 chicken breasts from the wonderful morrisons whoopsies as Rob (our son) and Hannah call them. Then back to the carpark knackered and my gps messed about and still is - will have to ask advice later and will have to add a manuel entry for my longboard session.
